Cortland Waterfront Park’s great lawn and dance floor are ideal for live music events. In summer, the great lawn also hosts outdoor movies. On Thursday nights from June through August, the park frequently offers music and movies, but you don’t have to wait for summer to enjoy the space. Avian enthusiasts will find outstanding opportunities for birding with blue herons, red-tailed hawks, and eagles in the area.

The arboretum hosts conservation programs and educational activities to help promote wetland restoration, water quality monitoring, and habitat preservation.
The arboretum’s main trail loop covers about 0.6 miles and includes a boardwalk over portions of the swamp as well as three bridges. You can easily traverse the central loop in around 20 minutes, but you may want to linger longer to take in the sights. The loop also has several offshoots that you can explore to extend your time in the area. Shopping for an electrified minivan around Cortlandt? The Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid delivers excellent range, family comfort, and easy charging at home or on the go. Chrysler has the market locked up for anyone needing a seven-passenger minivan that can go a very long way on a tank of fuel. If this sounds appealing, then the Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid is for you. Wondering how to charge this powerful vehicle? Consider reading our guide below.
The Chrysler Pacifica is the first plug-in hybrid minivan that gives people, especially parents who want to decrease emissions, a great way to cart around their kids or loved ones without needing gas. The minivan’s 33-mile electric range is more than enough for your daily drive, covering kid duty and commuting.
The Pacifica is also affordable, charges up in just about two hours with a Level 2 charger, and seats up to seven people. Being able to drive electric most of the time while having the convenience of fuel when needed can give you the peace of mind to transition to electric mobility.
How To Charge the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid
Charging the new Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is super easy. It comes with a 120-volt Level 1 charging cord set that you’ll find in the cargo area storage bin located on the driver’s side. Remember that this cord set is for Level 1 charging only, so it requires a traditional 120-volt power outlet (AC grounded wall receptacle).
Before you start charging the Pacifica, turn it off, shift it to “P,” and engage the brake to park the vehicle. Then put the AC plug of the charging set into the receptacle on the charger. Take the charge connector and place it in the van’s charge inlet. Once you insert it correctly, you’ll hear a “click” sound and see the charge active indicator lights cycle from left to right. If the charge indicator shows all five bars, it means your vehicle is fully charged and ready to go.
How Long Does It Take To Charge the Pacifica’s Battery?
If you use the 120-volt Level 1 charger, you can fully recharge the Pacifica in about 14 hours. You can reduce the time and charge the vehicle in just about two hours by using an available 240-volt Level 2 charger. However, remember that the estimated charging time is based on a completely discharged high-voltage battery. Your Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid’s charging time varies based on several factors, such as the battery’s condition, age, state of charge, and temperature, as well as the available current being provided to the charger from its power source.
How To Find a Charging Station
Finding the closest charging station for the vehicle is also easy. Just go to the navigation tab of the touch screen on the Uconnect 5 system and look for charging stations nearby.
You can also use the mobile application to determine the availability of the charging station and other details. Simply open the Uconnect mobile app on your phone and type in charging stations under the location tab. This allows you to locate and view all available charging stations nearby. You can then press the Send & Go button to send the charging station locations to the van’s navigation system.
What Is the Range of the New Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid?
The Pacifica plug-in hybrid range is assisted by a V-6 engine, two electric motors (63 kW and 84 kW), and a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery that combine for around 260 horsepower. This powertrain allows the minivan to accelerate quickly and handle passing or merging on the highway just fine.
On battery power alone, the 2023 Pacifica can travel up to 33 miles. However, when combined with a full tank of gas, it can go up to 520 miles.
The EPA calculates the Pacifica Hybrid’s efficiency with a method known as miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe). In this measure, the 2023 Pacifica scores around 82 MPGe. When it operates as a conventional hybrid, the vehicle achieves up to 30 mpg.
Can the 2023 Pacifica Hybrid Charge While Driving?
The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica charges while you’re driving, as it comes with a regenerative braking system that recharges the vehicle’s battery during deceleration. However, the system can only provide a small boost. You can only unlock the Chrysler Pacifica’s full potential when you connect it to an electrical outlet.
How Long Will the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica’s Battery Last?
The life span of the 2023 Pacifica’s battery usually ranges from three to five years. However, this can vary greatly depending on several factors, including your driving habits, the climate, and the battery size.
The fact that the vehicle’s battery is not fully dead is no assurance that it’s in good working condition. If you’ve used the vehicle’s battery for three to five years, then it may be time to get a replacement.
Some telltale signs of a weak battery in the new Chrysler Pacifica include a slow engine cranking after you turn the key and extensive corrosion on the connectors and cables. Even if the vehicle’s electronics are working, you may still hear an irritating clicking noise when turning the key in the ignition. These signs point to a dying battery in your Pacifica hybrid.

Restoration of this beautiful outdoor space began in the 1990s, when local citizens joined together to create the Verplanck Waterfront Preservation Committee (VWPC).
They collaborated with the Town of Cortlandt and Scenic Hudson to protect this dock and keep it a local gathering place. Here, you can enjoy various exciting outdoor features, including a public boat launch, horseshoe pits, a fishing pier for both crabbing and fishing, and opportunities for bird-watching. Some call it the “Yankee Doodle House” as it’s rumored to be the location where Richard Shuckburgh wrote the well-known song during the 1755 French and Indian Wars. The home has since been remodeled in the Federal style, and in the 19th century, it was a boy’s school. In 1924, owners donated it to the state of New York, and it has since been a museum and historic site.
Take a Walk Along the River in Hudson, New York

If you’re in the market for a mid-size muscle car, the Dodge Charger is an excellent choice. It’s a highly reliable car that consumers have trusted since the mid-1960s, and it doesn’t show any signs of phasing out. Below, learn what makes this vehicle reliable so you can decide whether to get one.
What’s the Charger’s Performance Like?
The most recent version of the Dodge Charger is the 2022 Charger. It has a base 3.6-liter V6 engine provides 264 lb-ft of torque and 300 hp. For a four-door sedan, this power is quite impressive. You even have the option to upgrade to more powerful engines, all of which provide reliable performance.
For example, you can get a 2022 Charger with a 5.7-liter V8 engine that provides 395 lb-ft of torque and 370 hp. If you want to leave others in the dust, this car has two supercharged engines available depending on your trim level. Take the SRT Jailbreak and the SRT Hellcat trims, for instance. These two trims let you get a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 707 lb-ft of torque and a whopping 797 hp. No one with a run-of-the-mill sedan can catch up to you, as its power is unmatched.
Fuel efficiency is another important factor when determining a car’s reliability. You don’t want a car with such poor mileage that you must stop at the gas station more frequently than you would like. Luckily, the Charger has surprisingly good fuel efficiency. With its base engine, the 2022 version gets up to 25 mpg on the highway. When you account for city and highway driving, you can expect a combined fuel efficiency of up to 19 mpg, which is impressive for such a robust vehicle.
What Are the Maintenance Costs for the Charger?
Repair Pal has deemed the Charger a reliable vehicle with reasonable maintenance costs. It has an estimated maintenance cost of $650 per year, but this figure can vary depending on several factors. For instance, how often you drive your Charger and your specific driving habits may affect the maintenance costs you pay.
You can keep your maintenance costs low by getting regular service. Start by scheduling service here at Bill Volz Westchester’s service department. Our expert service technicians will inspect your vehicle, determine what maintenance it needs, and diagnose any major problems. Then, we’ll get you on a regular service schedule so you can stay on top of your vehicle’s condition and prevent the need for any major repairs down the line. We don’t leave any service untouched, whether it’s a tire rotation, oil change, brake check, or a multi-point inspection.
What Safety Features Does the Charger Have?
You can’t talk about reliability without discussing a vehicle’s safety features. Even though the 2022 Charger looks big and bad at first glance, it has a soft spot for safety. Some of the standard and available safety features include:
Automatic High Beam Headlamps: Your headlights will lower their brightness automatically whenever they detect light from oncoming vehicles.
Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning: This system provides visual and audible alerts when your Charger gets too close to the vehicle in front of it.
Adaptive Cruise Control: You can set your desired speed to ride comfortably and keep your distance from the car in front of you.
Blind Spot Monitoring System: Your Charger alerts you whenever a vehicle enters your blind spot so you can wait until it’s safe to change lanes.
Rear Backup Camera: You don’t have to have the driving skills of a Formula One racecar driver to maneuver into tight parking spots. The rear backup camera is available to help you back up into narrow areas.
Ready Alert Braking: Ready Alert Braking senses when you let off the acceleration quickly so the vehicle can prepare for an abrupt stop.
Rain Brake Support: Rain Brake Support activates when the windshield wipers are on. This feature applies pressure to the brakes’ caliper, drawing water away from the brake pads.
Hill Start Assist: Hill Start Assist helps you drive on steep surfaces, stopping your Charger from rolling backward.
Side Guard Door Beams: The Charger features sturdy side guard door beams to provide extra protection in case of a side impact.
Are Older Model Years of the Charger Reliable?
Price is another aspect to consider when gauging how reliable a vehicle is. With a starting MSRP of $32,645, the 2022 Charger is an affordable vehicle that delivers in terms of power and safety. Note that while this price is affordable for a vehicle of its class, the 2022 Charger isn’t the only reliable Charger on the market. You can get a reliable older model if you don’t want to spend top dollar on a brand-new Charger. The Chargers from different years all have specific traits that set them apart from one another and make them desirable to different buyers.
For example, the 2018 Charger was the first Charger to introduce the Hellcat Widebody trim level. It was also the first time backup cameras became standard across all trim levels for a Charger. Some of the 2018’s trim levels also came with the option to get the Performance Handling Package and Brembo brakes for enhanced performance. No matter which model year Charger you’re looking at, you’ll likely find a vehicle built to last for many years.
After learning about the reliability of the Dodge Charger, you may want to purchase one to add to your garage. You don’t have to go without one much longer, as you can purchase a brand-new one at Bill Volz Westchester. If you prefer, you can browse our used inventory to see if a Charger of a particular model year catches your eye. Contact us today to get in touch with one of our helpful sales representatives who can assist you with your car-shopping journey.

The Durango has been a favorite car among Dodge fans for over three decades, but have you ever wondered about the history of this vehicle? The story behind the Dodge Durango’s evolution is a rather complicated one. As we draw closer to this vehicle’s anticipated discontinuation in 2024, let’s take a closer look at the behind-the-scenes history of the Dodge Durango.
The mid-sized SUV, the Dodge Durango, first emerged on the automobile scene in 1997. With its design modeled after a pickup truck with a covered trunk, Dodge hoped to appeal to prospective customers looking for an SUV midway between smaller models like the Ford Explorer and larger cars like the Chevrolet Tahoe. Since then, this beloved vehicle has gone through four generations. The Durango also briefly disappeared from the car scene between 2009 and 2011 before returning to the market.
The Story of the Durango Name
Did you know that the Dodge Durango received its name from a city in Colorado? Durango is a small town in this state known for its historical connections to America’s vast railroad system. This city in Colorado was named after a Mexican state called Durango. By naming this SUV Durango, Dodge hoped to emphasize its revolutionary appearance on the automobile scene.
The Evolution of the Durango
Dodge first introduced the 1998 model of the Durango toward the end of 1997 as a replacement for its Ramcharger line of vehicles, which Dodge had produced for 28 years. Originally, the Dodge Durango had much of its platform in common with the Dakota pickup truck, meaning that it shared many of the Dakota truck’s exterior and interior styling features. The primary change to the Durango’s second generation was the introduction of the new and highly powerful 5.7-liter Hemi engine in the lineup.
With the reappearance of the Durango on the market in 2011 for its third generation, Dodge made extensive changes inside and out, including giving consumers a choice between a V6 and a V8 engine and a much more spacious interior for its three rows. For its fourth and final iteration in 2020, Dodge decked out the Durango with top-of-the-line exterior features and a choice between a 3.5-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter V8 Hemi engine.
Dodge has already announced that the forthcoming 2024 model of the Durango will be the vehicle’s last appearance on the market before discontinuation. This is for a few reasons, including that Dodge wants to spend more time adding or updating hybrid and electric cars to its product lines and that the company noticed a decrease in Durango sales over the years. That said, Dodge has yet to comment on what the final 2024 model could look like or if an electrified replacement model exists.
Changes to the Durango Exterior
When Dodge first released the Durango, this SUV had numerous exterior elements in a retro style, such as its front fenders flared out and positioned lower than the hood, a crosshair grille design, and narrow horizontal headlights. The curved windshield, however, gave the Durango body a modern touch. With the release of the second generation of the Durango, its chassis continued to resemble the Dakota pickup truck, but that all changed in 2007 thanks to the redesigned hood of the vehicle.
By the time the third generation of the Durango rolled around, Dodge made an apparent effort to distinguish this SUV from both the Dakota pickup truck and Dodge’s other models. The redesigned exterior gave the Durango a more muscular appearance thanks to its sculpted hood, raised front bumper, and slimmed-down split crosshair grille. The rear also now featured glamorous LED racetrack tail lamps and a newly designed trailer hitch. Although the fourth generation received fewer updates to its exterior, the brand-new bumper, grille, and LED headlights gave the Durango a much more modern appearance.
How the Durango’s Features Changed
In its first iteration, much of the Durango’s interior resembled the Dakota pickup truck, including a similar dashboard design. A key difference was that the Durango offered a third row of rear-facing seats, allowing the vehicle to fit up to eight people. Dodge later removed this feature because of low market demand and replaced it with the now customary third row facing toward the front of the car, allowing seven people to fit comfortably within the Durango.
While the second generation of the Durango more or less possesses the same interior features, the reappearance of the Durango on the car scene in 2011 offered many more stylish and technologically advanced updates. This included many outstanding safety features, such as tire pressure monitoring, all-speed traction control, rear parking assistance, and electronic stability control. The third generation also added touch screens in either a 5-inch or 8.4-inch size.
Come 2020, the interior of the Durango received further updates. This included new materials and a standard UConnect infotainment system.
Durango Through the Years: Engines and Fuel Efficiency
With the V8 engine in its first generation, the Durango achieved 14 mpg in city conditions and 19 mpg while traveling along the highway. This engine also had an impressive 238 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the engine upgrades of the second edition, the Durango boosted its city mpg to 16 and its highway to 21. The V8 engine in this second generation also raised its horsepower to 349.
As the Durango evolved, it became even more powerful. With the advent of the third generation, the Durango could reach 294 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque thanks to its V6 engine, compared to 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque with the V8 engine. By 2020, the Durango will also become much more fuel-efficient despite its large and heavy frame, scoring 18 mpg in city conditions and 26 mpg along the highway.
Did you get a chance to drive multiple iterations of the Durango? What’s been your favorite part about how the Dodge Durango’s evolved over the years? Let us know by leaving a comment on this blog. And if you’re interested in getting a Durango of your own, feel free to browse our inventory of new Durango vehicles or used Durango models. You can also book a service appointment online if you have a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram vehicle you’d like our experts to take a closer look at.
It seems like everyone’s familiar with the major league sports teams coming out of New York State: the Knicks, the Mets, the Rangers, and of course, the Yankees. But nothing matches the pride and enthusiasm that local sports teams bring out from their fans during their games.
If you’re in the Westchester and Hudson, New York, area, you can easily travel to see one of these sports teams play, whether your game of choice is baseball, basketball, or soccer, and cheer on some local players from your area. Take your entire family and have a wonderful experience with an affordable game close to home while supporting your home region.
Westchester Knicks
The name isn’t just a coincidence; the Westchester Knicks are, in fact, affiliated with the original New York Knicks, one of the most popular basketball teams in New York, if not the whole country. The Westchester Knicks, based in White Plains, are a professional basketball team that plays in the NBA G League.
The team was founded in 2014, and many of the players are free agents eligible to be called up at any time to the NBA. In the past, players like Langston Galloway, Trey Burke, and Chasson Randle were given temporary contracts with the New York Knicks. You might be excited to discover that Thanasis Antetokounmpo, one of the talented brothers of Giannis Antetokounmpo, played for the Westchester Knicks for two years before joining his brother on the Milwaukee Bucks.
Clearly, there’s a lot of talent and many up-and-coming players to marvel at and cheer for on this team. To take in a Westchester Knicks game, head over the state line to Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where the team recently moved.
Hudson Valley Renegades
Founded in 1994, this minor league baseball team is part of the South Atlantic League and is based out of Fishkill, New York. They’re affiliated with the world-famous New York Yankees, and have won three New York-Penn League championships during their time playing in New York: in 1999, 2012, and most recently in 2017.
Just as with the Westchester Knicks, watching the Hudson Valley Renegades means watching a lot of talented, up-and-coming players who may soon be called up to the big leagues. Some of the many former Renegade players that made a name for themselves in Major League Baseball (MLB) include Scott Podsednik, Ryan Dempster, Joe Kennedy, Matt Diaz, Wade Davis, and Toby Hall.
Podsednik might be the most famous former Renegade player, as he was playing with the Chicago White Sox when they won the World Series in 2005. Take your family along to go watch the Renegades play live on their home turf of Dutchess Stadium.
New York Cosmos
Soccer’s popularity in the US has quickly been rising over the past decade. If you want to scratch that live soccer match itch, check out a New York Cosmos game at the Mitchel Athletic Complex.
Based in Uniondale, the New York Cosmos are a rebirth of the original team of the same name that played in the North American Soccer League from 1970 to 1985. The current version of the team was founded in 2010 and joined the National Independent Soccer Association. They went on to perform exceedingly well, winning the Soccer Bowl Trophy almost three years in a row (their wins were in 2013, 2015, and 2016).
The team is currently on a temporary hiatus due to the recent pandemic, but you can expect a return to exciting live soccer play any day now. Keep your calendar open.
Long Island Ducks
Since their start in 2000, the Long Island Ducks have amassed a lot of local fans. Their games tend to attract families from all over the New York suburban and Tri-State area. If you’ve been looking for something different to do with the kids, why not introduce them to America’s favorite pastime by bringing them to watch a live game of baseball?
The team is based in Central Islip and has always played their home games at Fairfield Properties Ballpark. The team has a lot of local pride; even the name itself is a nod to the duck-farming history of Long Island and the famous hockey team of the same name.
As one might imagine for such a locally popular team, the Ducks attract a lot of up-and-coming talent to their team. Their very first manager was Bud Harrelson, who was a former MLB player himself. Today, the Ducks remain the only professional baseball team based on Long Island. They compete in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, a partner of MLB.
Rockland Boulders
Another team whose name takes its cue from the local environment is the Rockland Boulders, so named because of the abundance of massive boulders in Rockland County. Based in Pomona, the Rockland Boulders also nod to legendary New York sports history by donning blue and red uniforms. The blue references the old Brooklyn Dodgers, and the red respects the Rockland County Fire Training Center nearby.
The team started playing back in 2011, originally in the Can-Am League, which was eventually absorbed into the Frontier League. If you watch a Boulders game, you can expect to be surrounded by tons of people, as the team leads the league in devoted fans. In 2012, the Boulders led the league in fan attendance, counting 161,375 spectators over the course of the season.
Head to a game at Clover Stadium and cheer on the talented baseball players while your kids learn the game and enjoy the team’s fun mascot, Boulder Bird.
We love suggesting fun weekend activities for our customers while also supporting our local minor league New York teams. If you have a local team you support that was left off this list, please feel free to contact us at Bill Volz Westchester and let us know. We’d love to feature them in a future article.

Growing families love the Chrysler Pacifica for various reasons. The Pacifica has ample space for your kids, their friends, and the family dog. Plus, it has an infotainment system that can entertain the entire family. And the Pacifica comes with all the latest in-vehicle and safety tech you crave. You get a reliable ride with fewer visits to our service center.
There’s a reason Parents magazine voted the Pacifica the Best Family Car for the third straight year, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has once again named it a Top Safety Pick. With all the accolades, we thought we’d let you know our top reasons the Pacifica is the ultimate family vehicle.
Chrysler Pacifica Safety Systems
When you have a family, you want to be sure you’re driving a safe vehicle with airbags, crumple zones, and the latest driver assist systems. The Pacifica offers more standard safety and security features than any other vehicle in the industry. Features include full-speed forward collision warning with active braking, which scans the road ahead for obstacles. When it detects something in your path, it alerts you with visual and audio cues. If you react slowly, the system engages emergency brake support to help. Chrysler also includes a pedestrian automatic emergency braking system that recognizes people crossing the road.
Adaptive cruise control (ACC) is standard on the Pacifica. This enhanced cruise control system automatically adjusts your speed to maintain a preset distance from the car ahead. If necessary, it’ll bring your vehicle to a complete stop. A simple tap on the accelerator activates it. Studies show ACC helps reduce driver fatigue.
You also get LaneSense, a technology set that uses sensors to track your Pacifica within marked lanes. The lane departure warning alerts you when it detects an unintentional drift, and the lane-keep assist compliments that by using gentle steering correction to return you to your lane. A blind-spot monitoring system uses similar tech to scan blind spots for vehicles and alerts you when a car enters them. Chrysler’s rear cross-path detection system does the same but watches either side of your Pacifica as you back up in the busy parking lots here in Cortlandt.
The Pacifica also has parallel and perpendicular park assist, an automated parking system to find and park your Pacifica. If you’re a hands-on driver, you’ll love the 360-degree surround view camera system and the ParkSense front and rear system that give you a bird’s-eye-view of your Pacifica and alerts you when you’re near objects.
Chrysler Pacifica Performance
Chrysler has turned the minivan market on its head by making a powerful, fun-to-drive vehicle with exceptional capability. The Pacifica has a 3.6-liter V-6 engine, dual overhead cams under the hood, and a nine-speed automatic transmission, producing 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. The Pacifica boasts 3,600 lbs towing capacity and impressive efficiency ratings of 19 mpg around town and 28 mpg on the highway.
For even more efficiency, you can purchase the Pacifica Hybrid model, which harnesses the power of electricity and combines it with the gas engine’s power. Pacifica Hybrid models rate 82 MPGe and can travel 520 miles with a full tank and a fully charged battery.
The Pacifica’s standard front-wheel-drive platform on the Touring and Touring-L trims delivers capable performance on most road surfaces and weather conditions, thanks partly to the electronic stability control (ESC) system. The ESC helps you maintain directional control by selectively applying the brakes and throttle.
If you’re a more adventurous driver, the Pacifica’s Limited and Pinnacle trims come standard with all-wheel drive (AWD). But the AWD can operate in front-wheel drive when it senses you don’t need the traction, saving you money. When you lose traction, the system sends up to 100% of the available power to the wheels with the most traction. This segment-exclusive feature gives you the confidence to leave the pavement behind.
Chrysler Pacifica Interior
Since you’ll spend most of your time inside your Pacifica, shouldn’t it be comfortable? Chrysler thought of that and much more. If you’re looking for luxury, you’ll love the Pinnacle trim, which comes with premium leather upholstery in various color and style options. Berber carpet, a suede headliner, satin-chrome seat controls, and quilted second-row leather pillows add a refined style you won’t find on other minivans. Ventilated front seats and heated front and second-row seats will keep the whole family comfortable.
Chrysler’s patented Stow ‘N Go seating offers an incredible 243 seating configurations. The system lets you quickly fold the second and third rows, converting your Pacifica from a passenger van to a cargo carrier. A button push folds the seats beneath the floor for maximum space. And when you’re using the seats, the area they fold into gives you storage. The second-row seats also tilt and slide so you can easily access the third row.
No Pacifica is complete until you opt for the Stow ‘n Vac system powered by RIDGID. The vacuum stays within the wheel well, and the retractable hose allows you to quickly clean up crackers, cereal, and whatever else the little ones drop.
Chrysler takes in-vehicle tech to the next level with the available FamCAM. The FamCAM sends live video of the rear seats to your infotainment screen. This system features day and night modes and a split-screen function so you can watch everyone simultaneously. And when the kids are awake, they can entertain themselves with dual 10-inch touch screens mounted to the front seatbacks. These touch screens come with Amazon Fire TV, which lets you stream your favorite movies. Plus, it has wired connections for DVD players, gaming systems, and more. You can contact our parts department for more information.
