Bill Volz's Westchester

Feb 17, 2022

If you live in or are traveling through the Cortlandt area, Bill Volz Westchester isn’t the only location you should visit. Cortlandt and its surrounding communities also host some great cafes, where you can find mouth-watering cups of fresh coffee and a variety of creative menu items. Whether you’re local to the area or just passing through, definitely consider grabbing a cup of coffee or a delicious treat from a nearby shop. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite local cafes for you to enjoy.

The Peekskill Coffee House

The Peekskill Coffee House is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. With its bustling corner location in the heart of Peekskill’s living room, just a few miles away from our Cortlandt location, the eclectic shop offers a variety of specialty coffees and delicious food options. Their made-to-order crepes and paninis provide the perfect morning or afternoon treat. The cafe has vegetarian and vegan choices, making it an excellent destination for dietary restrictions.

It’s a delightful place to grab a quick cup, catch up with a friend, or settle in for a study session or work focus hour. With live music and other events on the weekends, we rate Peekskill as one of the best spots in town.

Bean Runner Cafe

Also located just north of Cortlandt, the Bean Runner Cafe is another local favorite for its excellent coffee, charming decor, and friendly atmosphere. You can find many delicious pastries, desserts, and food options along with specialty drinks. And if you’re a music lover, you may especially fancy this spot for their Latin, jazz, and other musical performances in the evenings. With a bar and evening menu options, the Bean Runner is a great establishment to visit at all times of the day.

Kathleen’s Tea Room

Why not show off your new car or truck at another popular local spot, Kathleen’s Tea Room. With over 60 tea varieties to choose from, be sure to dine in when you stop by Kathleen’s. They serve their loose-leaf tea steeped table-side in beautiful ornamental teapots. If the decor weren’t enough to love, the shop also offers a fine selection of desserts, pastries, and tea-time snacks.

The Black Cow Coffee Company

A staple in the Croton community, the Black Cow Coffee Company is one of our favorites on this list. Since 1995, the shop’s owners have been serving delicious coffee and treats for their visitors. With locations in Pleasantville and Sleepy Hollow, Black Cow lovers can find even more opportunities to enjoy one of the area’s best cups of coffee. We love the relaxed atmosphere, their bold beans from Africa, the Americas, the Pacifica, and their frequent displays of local artists’ creations. Their friendly, authentic service reminds us of our team at Bill Volz Westchester.

Bucci Coffee Company

The Bucci Coffee Company is pushing boundaries when it comes to coffee. Their cold brews, coffee-flavored ice creams, and organic options are as innovative as enjoyable. With Italian-inspired brews and worldly flavors, visitors can expect a memorable experience.

The Central

Also located in our neighboring town of Peekskill, The Central is the best place to grab a slice of fresh avocado toast or a warm pastry and a steaming cup of coffee. You may notice a familiar flavor in The Central’s coffee; they serve Peekskill’s coffee, one of our other favorites on this list. Coffee lovers can enjoy one of New York’s best brews inside Peekskill’s historic train station. The Central also recently announced their plans to expand their services in 2022 to include a bar and a full menu.

Daily Bagel Bakery and Cafe

A mere three minutes from our dealership, the Daily Bagel Bakery and Cafe is the perfect spot to stop for a fresh bagel, breakfast beverage, salad, or sandwich. The talented bakers at Daily always have something fresh to eat on their shelves, and they supply the classic New York deli and bagel shop experience to their many loyal customers. You can tell they use only the best ingredients, and the freshness is difficult to beat.

Mohegan Diner

For those who want a sit-down experience, you can get a great weekend breakfast or brunch at Mohegan Diner located in Mohegan Lake. This diner serves both breakfast and lunch options if you’re looking for something heartier to go along with your steaming cup of coffee. With hearty favorites like hamburgers, old-fashioned French toast, and corned beef Reuben sandwiches, it’s easy to see why the Mohegan Diner makes it onto our list of best cafes. Just be sure to go on the last Sunday of the month, so you can stop by our dealership to check out our best deals after eating your fill.

Carolina’s Ice Cream Cafe

Those looking for a more special treat can enjoy a delicious ice cream option at Carolina’s Ice Cream Cafe. Carolina makes her homemade ice cream from the lucuma, a superfood and native fruit of Peru, along with other exotic fruits. Carolina’s lucuma ice cream is memorable, with a distinct and novel flavor resembling caramel or pumpkin spice. An Incan favorite, and one of ours too, lucuma ice cream is a must-try for any adventurous eater. Carolina’s is the perfect stop if you’re looking for something refreshing or want to treat yourself.

Whether you’re in the mood for an Incan superfood from Carolina’s, a Nutella and banana crepe from Peekskill’s Coffee, or a fresh bagel from the Daily Bagel Bakery and Cafe, there are plenty of cafe offerings nearby Cortlandt for you to enjoy.

So if you’re in the area, check out one of these spots and let us know what you think. You can even grab a cup of to-go coffee and visit us at Bill Volz Westchester to take a look at our inventory. If you have another local cafe, you think we missed, please let us know! We’d love to hear from you and learn more about some of your favorite restaurants around town.
