If you live in or near Paramus, New Jersey, you may be familiar with the major highways, most filled with snarling traffic and uninspiring urban landscapes. However, because Paramus sits in New Jersey’s northeast corner, not far from the Hudson River, you can reach Highpoint State Park in about an hour and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in less than two hours. A three-hour drive to the farthest south of New Jersey sits Cape May, with spectacular views of Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. And in two hours, you can travel to Brendan T. Byrne State Forest in south New Jersey.

So, what do all of these destinations have in common? They open up the possibility of scenic drives through the hidden gems of the New Jersey countryside. So, if you’re interested in exploring New Jersey’s byways filled with exceptional views and unique destinations, check out this list of our five most enjoyable country drives.

Route 15 Dover, NJ to Dingmans Ferry, PA

This scenic route will take you through the heart of northern New Jersey. First, you can pick up Route 15 from Paramus off Interstate 80 in Dover. From there, you can travel north through the hills and forests, passing picturesque farms and fields filled with gurgling streams and rushing rivers. In less than 40 minutes, you should reach Augusta from Dover, where Route 15 ends and Route 206 begins.

We suggest continuing on Route 206 north into Stokes State Forest, 10 minutes north. A fall drive through Stokes State Forest rewards you with exceptional fall foliage, but don’t stop there. Instead, continue to Dingman’s Ferry via Route 206 to Tuttles Corner/Dingmans Road. Dingmans Ferry sits in Pennsylvania, and you can reach it by crossing the beautiful Dingmans Ferry Bridge.

Around Dingmans Ferry, you’ll find fantastic photo opportunities at Factory Falls, Fulmer Falls, Dear Leap Falls, Silverthread Falls, and Dingmans Falls all along Dingmans Creek. Dingmans Ferry features several quaint antique shops and a few local eateries, so plan a stop for lunch and a little shopping here. In all, the drive from Dover to Dingmans Ferry takes one hour.

Since this route takes you through the most remote and mountainous areas of New Jersey, we suggest you take the Jeep Grand Cherokee. This SUV has seating for five in luxurious comfort. Plus, it has the cargo space to carry any hiking gear, picnic supplies, and photography equipment you’ll want to bring along to fully experience the natural beauty of the drive and the stops along the way. In addition, you get Jeep’s 4×4 capability enabling you to explore these areas thoroughly.

Dingmans Ferry to Millbrook Village Historic Site

Take the 30-minute drive by crossing back into New Jersey over the Dingmans Ferry Bridge and turning right onto Route 615. This road takes you through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and along the Delaware River. When you arrive at Millbrook Village Historic Site, you’re transported to the 1800s, where there’s an old grist mill, an inn, and other structures maintained by the Millbrook Village Society. On Sundays in the summer, the Society staffs the town to recreate the historic daily life of the villagers.

You’ll have ample opportunities to stop and snap some great pictures of the river, mountains, and wildlife. In addition, you can get a little light 4×4 action as you explore. For this, take the Crater Lake turnoff and have a little fun. We suggest the Jeep Wrangler as the vehicle of choice if you do. You’ll have the ability to take the top off in the summer months and get the whole open-air experience connecting you to the nature around you.

Ocean Drive

If you love a scenic seaside drive, Ocean Drive delivers. This picturesque route starts south of Atlantic City and takes a series of local roads along the New Jersey coastline until Cape May. There’s so much to see and do along the way, such as Gillian’s Wonderland Pier amusement park in Ocean City, to Wildwood, a series of beachfront amusement parks including Mariner’s Pier.

You don’t need GPS to take this route. Instead, follow the gull signs that lead the way. Expect the entire trip to last several hours as the speed limits won’t allow you to go much higher than 30 mph.

For this drive, we recommend the Chrysler 300 sedan. You’ll enjoy the premium leather interior with the latest in-vehicle tech to keep you connected. Plus, the Chrysler 300 comes standard with a suite of driver-assist systems sure to help you traverse the wandering coastline roads safely.

Route 519 Colesville to Rosemont

Running from the far north in Colesville, this scenic drive takes you through the center of New Jersey. You can travel through towns with whimsical names like Plumbsock, Beemerville, and Harmony and stop to visit Goliath, the largest preserved black bear in America. This nearly two-hour trip may end up being some of the best scenery New Jersey has to offer.

To fully enjoy the road’s twists and turns, we recommend the Dodge Challenger for this trip. You’ll love the way the 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 roars through the hills. Plus, the interior features premium leather with ergonomic seats for comfort.

Henry Hudson Drive

Not far from Paramus, you have Henry Hudson Drive, a 13-mile stretch of winding road that follows the Hudson River north to Alpine. The drive features incredible views of the Hudson River as you ride the rollercoaster dips and turns with little more than rock walls separating your vehicle from plunging down sheer cliffs and into the river. The Dodge Charger can handle the twists and turns of this ride while still delivering the comfort of a four-door sedan.

At Bill Volz Westchester, we love a good country drive and hope you found this list informative. Please let us know if we left out a ride that should be on here, and we’ll do our best to update our list so others can continue to explore New Jersey in a Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, or Ram vehicle.

Jeep Spotlight

Dec 23, 2021

Jeep produces some of the toughest, most reliable vehicles ever to hit the road or the off-road. No matter which Jeep you choose, you are in for a fun driving experience on or off-road. Whether you are an urban warrior or an off-road adventurer, a Jeep is suited to your needs.

New Jeep Vehicles for Sale in Cortlandt, New York

There’s no substitute for a Jeep when looking for a versatile SUV or truck that is reliable, safe, and loaded with available features. You are sure to find the Jeep you are looking for at Bill Volz Westchester CDJR, located in Cortlandt, New York. Our inventory is loaded with Jeep models, such as the Cherokee, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler.

What to Look For in a New Jeep

Red Jeep Renegade

Jeeps have what you need and want in a vehicle. Let’s explore what you should look for when purchasing a new Jeep:

Spacious interior: Jeeps are known for having a lot of room inside. Jeeps can carry quite a bit depending on the model, with adaptive cargo areas that provide convenience and flexibility. Most Jeeps can carry up to five passengers, but with the introduction of new models such as the Grand Cherokee L and the new Grand Wagoneer, that number climbs to six, seven, and even eight passengers.

Versatility: There are very few vehicles that compare to the versatility of Jeep vehicles. For instance, the Jeep Wrangler is possibly the most capable off-road vehicle to ever be developed, and the Wrangler doesn’t show any signs of losing traction any time soon. All Jeep vehicles are competent off-road and provide you with the ability to go farther in your exploration of the great outdoors. With the Jeep Gladiator’s introduction, you can now have all the features of a Wrangler with the convenience of a truck bed and increased towing capacity.

Comfortable ride and available features: The ride quality of the Jeep brand has drastically increased, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee is an excellent example of how Jeep can dip into the luxury side of the automotive market. The Grand Cherokee offers a quiet, smooth ride with available luxury features, such as leather seating, heated seats, and much more. You will also find entertainment features, such as a passenger screen, rear-seat entertainment, Jeep Connect, a 19-speaker McIntosh premium sound system, and much more.

Finding the Right Jeep for You

To find the right Jeep, consider the following:

  • Your needs: Do you need a family hauler, an off-road vehicle, or a truck? Once you have decided what you need out of your new Jeep, you are set to choose the Jeep model best suited to the task.
  • Your budget: You will also want to plan out your budget to determine the monthly payment you can afford. Once you have this figure, you can narrow your search based on cost.

Visit Bill Volz Westchester CDJR today to learn more about the new Jeep models you are interested in and take them for a test drive today. Once you have narrowed down your selection, let us guide you through the new car purchasing process. You are sure to love your new Jeep for years to come.

In this short guide, we will go through some vital information on what to know about financing your new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram in Cortlandt, NY.
We have one of the largest inventories of cars, trucks, and SUVs from Paramus, NJ to Danbury, CT, and New York City. So whether you live in Westchester or further away in Newburgh or White Plains, our convenient location on Route 202, just east of Route 9, makes us the logical destination for all your car-buying needs. In addition, our expert financial team has decades of experience finding the best rates and terms on new and used car loans and leases.

Streamlined Financing

The first step to finding the perfect Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, or Ram starts with getting pre-approved for credit. At Bill Volz Westchester, we’ve streamlined this process. Now, you can use our online credit application to get pre-approved. In minutes, you’ll have your approval, including the monthly payment, interest rate, loan amount, and terms. If you prefer a more personalized experience, you can stop by and speak with one of our finance managers. Either way, getting pre-approved allows you to shop confidently, knowing what you can afford. Pre-qualifying saves you time and eliminates frustrations.

Helpful Online Tools

We offer several helpful tools in addition to the online credit application that you can take advantage of to help you make the right decision. For example, our online trade evaluator powered by Kelley Blue Book can quickly calculate the equity you have in your current vehicle. Then, after answering a few questions, you’ll receive an instant cash offer.

Then, when you’re ready to purchase your new car, truck, or SUV, you can bring in your offer, and one of our vehicle appraisers will confirm its mileage and condition before certifying the request. We’re so confident you’ll love the offer. We’ll buy your car even if you don’t purchase another vehicle from us.

We’ve also included an online payment calculator on our portal. This calculator allows you to simulate your monthly payment based on the loan amount, interest rate, vehicle trade, and loan length. Using this calculator before you begin shopping will help you focus on what you can afford, saving you time.

Find the Perfect Car, Truck, or SUV

After pre-qualifying and valuing your trade, you should completely understand what you can afford. Now you can start the fun part, finding a car. We invite you to browse our inventory online. Our search engine allows you to filter by year, make, model, and price. We’ve also added filters to search for optional equipment, exterior colors, interior amenities, and more to help you find the perfect vehicle.

It doesn’t matter if you want a new or used vehicle. If you live in the Westchester area, you won’t find a more extensive inventory of cars ready to sell at great prices. Instead, you can elevate your daily commute with one of our luxury-appointed Chrysler 300 sedans or tap into some muscle with a Dodge Challenger or Charger from our inventory.

For the adventurous souls looking for capable performance, we offer many Jeep Cherokee, Wrangler, Compass, and Gladiator vehicles to choose from on our lot. In addition, families love our selection of Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager minivans and Dodge’s popular Grand Caravan. Finally, if you need a truck for work or play, our inventory of Ram trucks includes the famous Ram 1500 and the powerful 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickups.

Perhaps you prefer saving a little money and buying a used vehicle. In that case, you can browse our used inventory online. We have many cars, trucks, and SUVs from nearly every manufacturer. In addition, all of our used vehicles undergo an extensive inspection process to ensure quality and dependability.

Take a Test Drive

After identifying a few potential vehicles, we want you to feel comfortable. That’s why we encourage you to take your favorites on a test drive. You can conveniently schedule a test drive online or bring in the vehicle information in question, and a salesperson will hand you the keys.

Finance Professionals Working for You

Our finance managers want to exceed your highest expectations. They have decades of experience finding the right loan or lease deal to fit any financial situation. Our finance department has cultivated many relationships with local banks and national lending institutions, which we happily leverage on our customers’ behalf to get the best deal possible.

Once you’ve completed the pre-approval process and selected a vehicle, one of our finance managers will present you with several competing loan offers. At Bill Volz Westchester, our managers are committed to finding you a loan, regardless of your credit score. Our team won’t stop until we find you the perfect loan or lease. You get to choose which loan works best for you. Then, once you’ve selected your loan, we can execute the paperwork and have you driving away in your dream car in no time.

Should You Buy or Lease?

If you enjoy trading in your vehicle every few years for the newest model with the latest amenities, leasing your car gives you that flexibility. You can save on your monthly payment with a lease as well. Bill Volz Westchester always runs lease specials on some of our most popular vehicles. You can limit your financial commitment, lower your monthly payment versus a new vehicle purchase, and then trade it in for another great new car in two years.

However, we realize some people prefer the long-term stability of owning their vehicle. Paying off a car loan has its advantages. First, you won’t have a monthly payment once you’ve paid off the loan. Second, you now have equity in your vehicle. You can use that equity towards that new car, truck, or SUV when you want to purchase another car.

Finally, modern cars last a long time. It isn’t uncommon for vehicles to reach 150,000 miles without needing significant repairs. Many manufacturers project their vehicles can go 200,000 miles or more. That’s a quality you can rely upon.

At Bill Volz Westchester, we want your car-buying experience to be a stress-free, enjoyable one. That’s why we’ve streamlined the process and added many online tools to help you plan. If you’re ready to see how much you can afford in a new or used vehicle, we invite you to get pre-qualified today. If you prefer a personal discussion, you can schedule a meeting online today.

Jeeps are fun to drive on any terrain, but it would be a shame to own one and not venture into off-road territory whenever you have the chance. Pushing your Jeep to the limit is indeed incredibly fun, but like most things, it’s more fun to do it with friends and like-minded people. Luckily, if you’re a Jeep owner who lives in the Cortlandt area or other nearby areas in upstate New York, there are plenty of Jeep clubs that can expose you to a world of fun and adventure.

Joining a Jeep off-road adventure club can help you get the most out of your Jeep, as you’re likely to meet experienced members who will share the basics of safe off-roading. Not only will you find companions you can learn from, but you can also forge long-lasting friendships with fellow Jeep enthusiasts. Besides making new friends, joining a Jeep club will also give you the opportunity to discover amazing trails relatively close to where you live. These are some of the most well-known Jeep clubs in your area.

Adirondack Jeeps

This family-friendly off-roading club is mostly for Jeep owners, but all off-roading enthusiasts with full-size off-road vehicles are more than welcome to join the fun. They meet once a

Jeep Wrangler Off-roading

month in different locations in upstate New York, and as members of the Northeast Association of 4WD Clubs and Northeast Offroad Vehicle Alliance, they also organize off-roading adventures on private property in nearby states like Vermont, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.

This family-friendly club is dedicated to the “Tread Lightly” belief, and its members work hard to help others understand the basic rules of off-roading,  to keep it safe for themselves, their passengers, and the environment. Besides helping off-roading enthusiasts practice their hobby safely, promoting this sport’s safety guidelines and laws also keeps it legal. Members of Adirondack Jeeps also get involved in helping their local communities through volunteering and fundraising.

Capital District Jeep Wrangler

This club was started in 2012 by two off-roading enthusiasts, Jason Anderson and Keith Webber. Their goals were to have a good time driving their Jeeps on rough terrains, find fellow off-roading enthusiasts in the area to join them, and find ways to give back to their community. Nine years later, it’s safe to say they met all their initial goals, as Capital District Jeep Wrangler has built a strong community of off-roaders that has fun together and helps local organizations.

From a management perspective, CDJW’s main goal is to inspire a culture of quality, and they do their best to epitomize that in everything they do. This starts with transparency, with all members being welcome to attend the club’s monthly board meetings and have their say regarding its future. There’s also third-party oversight to make sure that all club and member resources are used efficiently and effectively for the good of the club and the local community.

Some of the most important benefits of becoming a member of Capital District Jeep Wrangler include the large number of available trails in its portfolio, the knowledge that beginning and intermediate off-roaders can soak up from more experienced members, and the many exclusive discounts at local and national retailers. The local community also wins, as CDJW works with local organizations, such as the Civil Air patrol, to raise money for special causes.

Long Island Off Road Inc

This trail riding club is based in Long Island, New York, and meets on the first Tuesday of each month. As with most similar clubs, members do their best to find the balance between fun and safety and are totally family-oriented. This means that, as a member, you can take your family out off-roading and make a day of it. It’s one of the longest-running off-roading clubs in the area, having been around since 1993, and it’s gathered an impressive trail portfolio over almost three decades.

Members don’t have to own a Jeep, but they do require that all vehicles be properly equipped with off-roading gear and be in good condition, as most trails don’t have any repair shops and parts stores nearby. Off-roading enthusiasts who are thinking of joining this club should know that doing so will not only lead to great times with family, friends, and fellow club members, but also give them the opportunity to observe some impressively modified off-road vehicles.

New York City Jeep Club

This Jeep-exclusive off-roading club is dedicated to Jeep owners and adventure enthusiasts from New York City’s five boroughs and Long Island, but it’s open to new members from all over the upstate New York area. Members officially meet on the last Friday of each month, but usually have more frequent off-roading trips. Their events gather club members together to discuss Jeeps and more but are also good opportunities to find new ways of helping community members in need of food and other necessities.

The club was started in 2009 by two friends from Queens, a couple of dirt-bike enthusiasts who had just gotten some worn-out Jeeps. Repairing the Jeeps exposed them to the exciting world of off-road vehicle repairs and enhancements. They quickly discovered how many people are passionate about Jeeps and the huge number of available aftermarket components they can fit on their vehicles. Although initially, they couldn’t find fellow Jeep enthusiasts in their area, their club steadily grew over time and evolved into one of the most well-known in New York State.

Joining an off-roading club is a great way to make the most out of your Jeep, learn more about off-road terrains and vehicles, hang out with people who share your passions, and spend wonderful moments in nature with friends and family. Joining any of the clubs on this list will offer you all of that and more, and likely become a part of your monthly routine. If you’re looking to buy a new or pre-owned Jeep, contact Bill Volz’s Westchester and you’ll definitely find what you need!

Benefits of Leasing a Vehicle

When leasing a vehicle, various benefits and options may make this a better option. You’ll typically get a lower monthly payment than if you were to finance a vehicle, making it more affordable. Lease payments are calculated differently, basically covering the rent of the vehicle, taxes, and depreciation instead of the purchase price. You’ll be required to have less up-front money when you purchase and when you’re ready for a new vehicle, such as the newest Trackhawk, you don’t have to worry about reselling. At the end of the lease, you may have the option to purchase the vehicle.

Purchasing a new-to-you vehicle can be both daunting and exciting. There’s so much to think about when considering a vehicle that someone else has previously owned, including how well the vehicle was cared for by the previous owner. When you’re buying a used vehicle from a private seller, there are several questions you need to ask yourself before you seal the deal. Here’s a used vehicle question checklist to help you prepare for your car-buying experience.

How Well Was the Vehicle Maintained?

This question can encompass everything from how the previous owner drove the vehicle to whether or not routine maintenance services were performed. You should find out if the vehicle received routine maintenance and whether those services were performed by the previous owner, a mechanic shop, an independent mechanic, or a dealership’s service department. Also, ensure that the vehicle is up to date on any maintenance needs. If possible, speak directly to the mechanic who performed the services to get their take on the vehicle’s condition.

You can also ask if the service records are available. If the service records are readily available, it typically means that the previous owner kept up with routine maintenance and put a lot of care into the vehicle. You may also want to consider asking if you can take the vehicle to your mechanic for an inspection prior to purchasing.

Has the Vehicle Been in Any Accidents?

You might be able to get information on any accidents the vehicle was involved in on a vehicle history report, such as Carfax. Don’t assume that the vehicle history report catches every accident, so it’s best to ask the previous owner if they’re aware of any accidents. If a vehicle has been involved in an accident, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider purchasing it, but you should find out the extent of the damage and how it was fixed.

What Is the Vehicle’s Ownership History?

Again, this information is often included on a vehicle history report, but ask if the ownership history is known when possible. Use terms such as original owner to get to the bottom of how many owners the vehicle has had. Watch for red flags such as very short periods of ownership, especially if the current owner is the one who has owned the vehicle for a very short time. This expedited sale of the vehicle may signal issues that the current owner doesn’t want to deal with, so they’re selling it to unload those issues onto someone else.

Why Are You Selling the Vehicle?

When buying from a private seller, you may want to ask them why they have decided to sell the vehicle. While most owners will provide you with a canned response, such as upgrading or the vehicle is no longer needed, you may gain insight into the reason if you pay attention to how they answer this question.

Watch for body language that may indicate they’re uncomfortable answering this question to signal that the reason is possibly not good. Ideally, the owner would be upfront and honest if the vehicle has issues that they cannot resolve or afford, but realistically you’ll have to trust your gut on this one.

How Many Miles Are on the Vehicle?

More miles often means that the vehicle is more likely to have problems in the near future, but you can also take this time to discuss the type of driving those miles include. You can ask whether the miles are mostly city or highway driving, how many of those miles the current owner put on the vehicle, and whether or not those miles aren’t reflective of the vehicle’s condition for any reason. If the engine was replaced, the odometer would have lower miles than what is on the vehicle body, which should also be considered.

Do You Have the Title in Hand?

The private seller may not have the title in hand if there’s a loan with a remaining balance held by a bank or other financial institution. While you can purchase a vehicle from someone who owes money on a loan, you should know that it complicates the process slightly. The loan will have to be paid in full before the title is released. You may want to go with the owner to the bank as they use your payment to pay off the loan to ensure the title is released.

Also, if the owner has lost the title, it will need to be replaced before it can be released to you. The owner will have to go to the DMV to replace the title for a fee and then sign it over to you. Purchasing a used vehicle from a private seller that has the title in hand is easier and quicker.

Are There Any Features That Don’t Work as Expected?

If a window doesn’t go down when you push the button, the USB port doesn’t provide a charge, the brake lights don’t work, or any other feature needs repair, it should be disclosed when you ask this question. Again, in an ideal world, the current owner would be forthright with this information. By asking, you’re forcing them to consider anything that may not work on the vehicle and prompting them to share that information. You can still purchase a used vehicle with a broken feature, but knowing the cost to fix it or that it’s irreparable may influence your decision.

Are There Any Signs of Pets or Smoking?

This question is a personal preference but, for some, it can be a deciding factor. If you suffer from severe allergies to pet dander and the current owner’s dog goes with them on every trip, you may want to keep looking. Likewise, if you’re a nonsmoker and do not wish to smell the remnants of cigarette smoke, its presence will influence your decision.

When you’re ready to purchase a used vehicle, consider stopping by Bill Volz Westchester dealership to browse our selection of pre-owned vehicles. We can help you take some of the guesswork out of purchasing used and provide you with peace of mind when it comes to your purchase.
