Reasons To Reset a Jeep Compass Uconnect System

You shouldn’t try to reset the Uconnect system in your Jeep Compass if you don’t absolutely need to. There are, however, a handful of reasons why it might make sense to perform a Jeep Compass Uconnect reset, such as if your system ever freezes up on you and won’t turn on or off. Here are a few more reasons why a reset might be a good idea:

  • Your Uconnect system is running a lot slower than it should.
  • Your Uconnect system is making strange sounds.
  • Your Uconnect system isn’t allowing you to make or take phone calls.

You could try to diagnose these issues and troubleshoot them one by one, but more often than not, it’ll be easier to just reset your Jeep Compass Uconnect system and set it back to square one so that you can get it working like normal again.

What To Do Before Resetting a Jeep Compass Uconnect System

When you reset a Jeep Compass Uconnect system, it should help you get the system firing on all cylinders again. But if you make a mistake while resetting your Uconnect system, you might end up wiping out important system upgrades that have been installed. It might also result in you losing any personalizations that you’ve made to the system.

You might not mind this happening since they can be fixed. But prior to resetting your Jeep Compass Uconnect system, you should be aware of these issues so that you know what you’re getting yourself into from the start. The last thing you want to do is reset your Uconnect system only to discover later that you’ve done more harm than good.

How To Do a Soft Reset on a Jeep Compass Uconnect System

There are a couple of ways in which you can reset a Jeep Compass Uconnect system. The first is by performing what’s known as a soft reset. This is the kind of reset that you should try first since it’s unlikely to have a big impact on your Uconnect system and its settings. Take the following steps to perform a soft reset on your Jeep Compass Uconnect system:

  1. Put the key for your Jeep Compass into its ignition and turn it to “Run,” but leave the SUV in park.
  2. Push down the volume button and tuner knob on your infotainment display at the same time, and hold them for between 10 and 20 seconds.
  3. Watch the screen on your infotainment display and make sure that it flashes the Jeep logo before going dark.
  4. Wait for your Uconnect system to reboot and start back up again.

As long as you follow these steps, you should be able to successfully soft reset your Jeep Compass Uconnect system. Once this is done, your Uconnect system should be working just like before, with most, if not all, of your settings still intact.

How To Do a Hard Reset on a Jeep Compass Uconnect System

Performing a soft reset on a Jeep Compass Uconnect system should clear up most of its issues. But if you have something serious going on with your system, this might not do the trick. In this case, you’ll need to perform a hard reset on your Jeep Compass Uconnect system to get it working like it’s supposed to. But before you do, remember that this could cause complications with your Uconnect system since it’s going to essentially wipe it clean.

To do a hard reset on your Jeep Compass Uconnect system, you’ll need to work your way through the following steps:

  1. Press the up and down buttons for the temperature at the same time and hold them for at least five seconds.
  2. Look for a menu to appear on your screen and select the option that will allow you to perform a hard reset on your Jeep Compass Uconnect system.
  3. Wait about 30 seconds while your Jeep Compass Uconnect system boots back up.

Once you’ve done a hard reset, you’ll need to restore all the settings for your Jeep Compass Uconnect system manually. This may not be the ideal solution, but you might not have any other choice.
